Descriptions and Optional Items

 

 

 

Mützen und Stahlhelm (Caps and Helmets)

Stahlhelm (Helmet): M35/40 preferred. M1942 is an alternative for late war events. Inner tube rings, brotbeutel straps and appropriate nets may be worn for camouflage purposes. Helmet decals are optional for events after 1943. NOTE: Under no circumstances will Spanish derivatives be allowed.

Feldmützen (Field Cap): M34 with yellow soutache and trapezoid. The M42/43 is optional for mid to late war events. NOTE: The bergmütze is only allowed for NCOs.

Schirmütz (Service Cap): (Optional) To be worn by enlisted for Kleiner Dienstanzug (Undress) or Ausgehanzug (Walking out Dress). Not for tactical scenario wear.

Tarnhelmberzug (Camouflage helmet cover): (Optional) 1942 onward only. May be produced from a zelt, bed sheet or the issue pattern. Splinter A or white only.

Die Uniform (The Uniform)

Feldbluse (Field Blouse): M36 is preferred. The M40 is an acceptable option. M42 and subsequent patterns are a reasonable for mid to late war events.. M44 for late-war events only. Use of Seitenhaken (Belt Hooks) is preferred. NOTE: Kragenbinde (neckband) mandatory if worn with collarless shirt

Hosen (Trousers): M36 or M40 wool service trousers. M42 and subsequent patterns optional for later war events.

Hemd (Shirt): White collarless service shirt. Field-gray collared shirt optional for later war events. A period civilian shirt is an option in limited numbers.

Tarnjacke (Camouflage Smock): (Optional) Heer in either splinter or tan and water (post D-Day) patterns. NOTE: No FJ or WSS patterns.

Wintermantel (Overcoat): (Optional) May be of any issued pattern.

Ohren Schutzer (Toque): (Optional) May be the issue or acceptable post-war cold weather toque or scarf.

Handschuhle (Gloves): (Optional) Wool gloves or mittens.

Schlupjacke (Sweater): (Optional) Wool Sweater Closed or “V” neck, Feldgrau or charcoal gray, or approved period civilian type.

Schulterklappen (Shoulder Insignia): IAW with assigned rank and impression. May be either green or feldgrau. 716. numbered aufshiebeschlaufen (Shoulder Board Slide) are not worn by Candidates.

Litzen: (Collar Insignia): Appropriate to the blouse worn and impression.

Hosentrager (Suspenders): Issue pattern or period appropriate only. The correct issue-trouser belt is a reasonable alternative on the appropriate pattern hosen.

Sporthemd (Sports Shirt): (Optional) White tank top with Heer emblem on front. May be worn as an undershirt or during hot weather and as directed, as an outer garment.

Sportanzug (Sport Dress): (Optional) Black drawstring shorts with above shirt. For colder weather a black zippered jacket and trousers. Worn with brown running Schnüurshuhe (shoes).

Drillichanzug (Fatigue Dress): (Optional) HBTs. For mid-42 onwards and in schilfgrün (Reed Green) only. May substitute for the wool uniform at hot-weather events.

Wintertarnanzug (Winter camouflaged over-uniform): (Optional) Must be of proper Heer issue and pattern.

Fussbekleidung (FOOTWEAR)

Marschstiefel (Marching Boots): Jack boots, AKA Knobelbecher (Dice Shakers) (original or approved reproduction/conversion). NOTE: Must have leather soles and hobnails and heel irons.

Schnürstiefel (Low Boots): (Optional) M42 of correct pattern from approved vendor. Mid to late war only.

Gemachen (Leggings): (Optional) For wear with M42 boots (for mid-late war events only).

Fusslappen (Footwraps): (Optional).

Socken (Socks): Grey with appropriate size ring(s). Period civilian socks are a reasonable substitution.

Filzstiefel (Felt Boots): (Optional) Must be properly converted from existing post-war boots.

Gewehr (Weapons)

Karabiner 98k (Carbine 98k): Mandatory weapon for all unit members. Must have proper weapon sling and cleaning rod and kit.

Gewehr 41: (Optional)

Gewehr 43 (G43): (Optional) Late war only.

Machinenpistole 40 (MP 40): (Optional) Blank only weapons from SSRoom are allowed

Sturmgewer 44 (StG44): (Optional)

Seitengewehr und Seitengewehrtasche (Bayonet and Bayonet Frog): German K98k bayonet with appropriate pattern leather frog. NOTE: No Czech or Yugo bayonets with barrel loops permitted.

Reinigungsgerät 34 (Weapons Cleaning Kit): K98k or assigned weapon cleaning kit

Ausrüstung (Equipment)

NOTE: All equipment should be black with white stitching. Canvas webbing allowed for late war events, or DAK, only. Brown leather is unauthorized.

Brotbeutel (Breadbag): Original, authorized post-war or reproduction. Worn suspended from the koppel in the center of the backside.

Fettdose (Lard Dish): Original or identical post-war copy. Carried in the brotbeutel or gefechtsgepäck für infantrie.

Zeltbahnen mit zeltausrüstung (Shelter-quarter with equipment set): Splinter Camouflage, tent poles, and stakes. The pre-war issue feldgrau zeltbahn is a limited option. NOTE: No post-war, Austrian or WSS zelts will be allowed.

Kleine’s Schanzzeug mit tasche (Entrenching Tool With Carrier): Original or post war. The Klappspaten (Folding Entrenching Tool) and web holder carrier is optional for mid-late war events.

Feldflasche und Trinkbecker (Field Canteen with Cup): Original or post-war (with appropriate cover) with bakelite or properly painted metal or cup. Will be carried clipped to the right outside brotbeutel ring.

Koppel und Koppelschloss (Belt and Beltbuckle): Leather equipment belt; steel or aluminum Heer buckle in silver or grey-green. NOTE: Worn at the natural waist, not on the hips.

Koppeltraggestell für Infantrie (Leather Infantry Strap): "Y" straps. Web belts optional for late war events.

Kochgeschirr und Essbeschtek (Messkit and Utensils): Original M31 Mess kit and utensils or approved post-war copies. Carried off the left side of the brotbeutel, through the leather loop. May also be carried in the gefechtsgepäck für infantrie.

Patronentaschen (Ammuntion Pouches): Pattern appropriate for weapon.

Tragbrüchse für Gasmaske (Gas Mask Canister and Gasmask): Original canister only; appropriate post-war mask allowed. Gasplane (Gas Sheet), if worn should be strapped to the outside of the carrier for mid-late war events. For early war, it should be attached to the canister’s carrier strap. The strap is worn over the right shoulder and hooked into the koppel between the brotbeutal straps.

Soldbuch (Pay/identity booklet): Properly completed.

Erkennungsmarken (Identity Tag): Zinc unit marked and matching the Soldbuch.

Mammschaftsdecke (Wool blanket): Issue preferred, but appropriate period blankets are acceptable.

Gefechtsgepäck für Infantrie (Infantry Assault Pack): (Optional) A-frame, reproduction or original.

Feldtaschen Lampe (Flashlight): Wartime or identical postwar flashlight.

Esbit Kocher (Fuel Stove): Compressed Fuel Stove

Handtuch (Hand Towel): Issue towel or appropriate period hand towel.

Nahenzeug (Sewing Kit): Should be packed with period buttons and thread.

Dienstbrille (Eyeglasses): (Optional) If contacts cannot be worn, glasses must be of the period or original or reproduction issue.


Verbotten (Forbidden)

  • · Post-war (i.e., Austrian, BGS) camouflage items.
  • · Converted Swedish, Swiss or postwar German uniforms.
  • · Waffen SS camouflage.
  • · Italian camouflage.
  • · Rubber-soled jackboots.
  • · Spanish helmets or gasmask canisters.
  • · RAD or any non-military canister
  • · Wear of NSDAP regalia.
  • · Wear of medals or awards not authorized by the unit.
  • · Panzer or assault gun uniforms.
  • · If they didn’t have it, don’t bring it.
