These are pre-war kfz 72’s built by Henschel. The main difference from the Krupp version is the rounded edge of the hood and the inset louvered side panels. The firewall flares outward and the rear part of the front fender is straight. The Mercedes version of the truck used a much smaller front fender, longer running boards and mounted spare wheels on both sides of the hood. These have the early  “antler” style bumpers and there are no Notek lights. The triangular object over the windscreen is a trailer towing indicator. The towing indicator and the antler bumpers disappeared as the war went on. Note the separate cab and the stepped height change from the cab to the box on the back. The more common Kfz 61/68 radio trucks have a shorter wheelbase and a one piece cab and box with a common roof height.

This may be an early war photo. This is a Kfz. 72 being repainted at a depot. It was thought that it might be being refueled but the filler cap is inside the cab under the bench seat. It would appear the loading infor is being applied to the door as it appears there is a paper mask stuck on the door. The side door is partially open. The headlights now have black out covers on them and there is a traditional bumper.

This is a Kfz. 61/68 for comparison. It has a shorter wheelbase and there is no storage compartment between the passenger door and the side compartment door. The cab and box are one piece making for a shorter interior height in the radio compartment. Otherwise it is an externally similar vehicle. The interior layout could differ considerably.
