The 716th was raised in 1941 as an occupation unit. It was largely comprised of older WWI veterans and this suits the current makeup of the unit. As the war went on, the unit was supplemented with very young recruits and those unfit for service in front line units. This is about as plain and ordinary a Heer unit as we can get. The 716th was stationed in the Normandy area up to and including the D-Day invasion. The 716th defended Pegasus Bridge, the Merville Battery, and Omaha, Sword, Gold and Juno beaches. As you can see from the pictures, we can portray any Heer unit. These pictures show us as part of the 24th Panzer Division.
